Browns shoes can be a great compliment to a blue suit.
But there are rules to follow to prevent the look from going horribly wrong.
Browns shoes will draw attention to your feet so it is important to pay attention to the details. Many people look to shoes as a clue to their class of style and even character.
Dark brown shoes can go with navy blue suits but remember dark, not a light colored shade. Generally the older generation may swear up and down that brown should never be paired with navy blue. But this is easily dismissed since we’ve seen the look done well.
We don’t think a good shoe should necessarily stand out from the suit. Sometimes we want to show off our footwear as the focal point and sometimes we’d rather be a little more incognito.
When building a impression of a good look let the eyes flow in a fluid movement when first noticing the suit. Allow a quick glance to formulate the appearance of a well put together image. If the eyes get stuck somewhere it’s usually because that area is sticking out…in a bad way.
When in doubt, black is the obvious choice with navy blue suits. And, of course, brown can always be paired with gray suits.

Maybe your advice is good, but your not knowing the difference between “compliment” and “complement” blows your credibility.
