For Fall Winter 2008-09, Costume National presented a thoroughly wearable collection.
Designer Ennio Capasa went back to his roots, seeking inspiration from London’s many different scenes from Mod to Punk. The result was a clean, fresh modern look.
The collection included many pieces of the moment including cardigans, vests and striped knits. There were also some more bold choices such as one particular cape piece.
Plaid was a huge factor in the show from tanned plaid jackets and coats to the red plaid pants so often associated with punk culture.
The blending of these different areas of subculture resulted in a thoroughly clean collection that would pass muster in many different circles of our current culture, from underground to mainstream. Trilbys on the models heads added to the urban cool vibe of the collection. Formal looks were relaxed and hip, with tailored pieces that weren’t fussy or stuffy.
The Milan collections are known for their wearability and the looks Ennio Capasa presented could easily take the models from the runway to the streets.
