The Fall/Winter 2008-09 collection for Gianfranco Ferre was a first for the label that had many in anticipation.
Lars Nilsson took over as the first new designer of the label aside from the late, legendary namesake who passed away last year.
In his first foray into menswear, Nilsson presented a collection that put Ferre’s name at the fore.
In a static presentation that ignored the bells and whistles of the runway, Nilsson presented luxurious fabrics that were immediately and undeniably noticeable finely tailored.
The presentation smartly mixed live models with dummies. In a collection based on English sartorial tradition, Prince of Wales print looked refreshingly chic yet traditional.
Nilsson’s beautifully tailored slim, knee-length, double breasted overcoats were tops!
Nilsson stuck with a sophisticated, refined aesthetic that ignored attention grabbing excess and focused on cut, tailoring and the tradition of the late great Gianfranco Ferre.
