The duo behind Duckie Brown discuss that crumpled trench coat from their fall 2008-09 collection.
Images of this coat have stuck with us since first seeing it on the runway. The coat, which is made of cotton and nylon, is “as stiff as papier-mache, but as durable as any traditional garment.”
Cox says, “I wanted a piece using the heaviest fusing. I wanted it to look like a statue. I wanted it to be so heavy it could stand up on its own.” Silver adds “Over time, this will break down….Most people buy things and want it to fit the same way for 20 years. This will grow and change with you. It will mold to your body.”
At first we weren’t sure of what to make of it, but now there is a burning desire deep within us to get the coat by any means necessary. Haute to def!
Update: Unfortunately, when we contacted the Duckie Brown showroom we were told this was a show piece. So don’t expect to see it at retail.
So the next question is, “How the heck do we get our hands on that runway sample?!?”

this is too morpheus for me, sorry. definitely cool going down the runway.. or on the way to a rave… however, pretty impractical in everyday situations…
