For Spring-Summer 2009 designer Alexander McQueen presented a collection that made use of color blocking to play tricks on the eye.

A color palette of whites and tans infused with jolts of orange and deep, rich blacks.

Proportion and silhouette wer highlights as sheer skin tight knits displayed muscle curves while tailored pants were kept slim and fitted. One of the most interesting take aways was the use of blocks of color and line to create a trompe-l’oeil silhouette normally seen in women’s wear.

Reality Check: At times the collection reminded us of Prada’s last collection. Some feminine qualities including a kind of halter top swimsuit…for men, and a tiered shimmery top…again for men had us scrunching our face. But McQueen’s tailoring is sen in the jackets and trousers which we’d def grab up. Some of the trompe-l’oeil pieces are wearable while other are strictly for the fashion forward.
