Actor Leonardo DiCaprio is getting himself into the accessories game.
The charitable actor is teaming up with watchmaker Jaeger-LeCoultre to create a timepiece collection for a cause. DiCaprio, known for his charitable efforts, is creating a two watch collection called the Time to Care program which will benefit the Leonardo DiCaprio Fund at the California Community Foundation. All proceeds from the sales will go to help this cause.
The first watch is a one-of-a-kind Master Compressor Extreme Lab, which DiCaprio wore to the premier of The 11th Hour and has been personally engraved with his signature. It is valued at $300,000. Made with carbon fiber and titanium, the exclusive piece boasts an automatic tourbillon, two time zones, a pointer-type AM/PM indication at 12 o’clock and a patented jumping date display between 15 and 16 linked to local time, as well as the first mechanical movement to operate without any lubricant.
Jaeger-LeCoultre’s second limited edition piece is the Reverso Gyrotourbillon 2. Designed for the 175th anniversary of the company, it is made out of platinum and valued at approximately $400,000. It has the first-ever spherical tourbillon, and also boasts a 50-hour power reserve.
DiCaprio who also champions alternative energy use, has caused Jaeger-LeCoultre to create the Making Time More Beautiful program within the company. With this program the brand will recycle and use recycled paper while undertaking carbon-offsetting procedures.
