In another signal that the FM radio waves suck here in the U.S., we’ve heard about this haute concept across the pond in the U.K..

Independent production firm Somethin’ Else has secured a three day licence to broadcast a fashion station. Dubbed Fashion DJs, the station is being sponsored by jewellers Swarovski and will feature Naomi ‘Blackberry’ Campbell and Jefferson Hack. (Sidebar- Will the microphones be bolted down? Just asking.)

The Fashion DJs station will also feature segments entitled “A Picnic with Lily Cole” and “Jefferson Hack’s Guide to What’s New”.

Somethin’ Else’s head of music radio, Nicky Birch said “We’ve got some of the fashion world’s top names to design their own radio shows so expect the unexpected.”

Besides radio content, there will be streaming video footage of the Fashion DJs shows recorded at Abbey Road studios.

This fusion of fashion and music is nothing new of course but this presentation should be interesting.

For those of us stateside, we needn’t worry about our boring FM radio waves. Thanks to this new technology called the internet, the Fashion DJs service will be online at www.showstudio.com starting July 9 as well as broadcast on an RSL on FM in London.
