We’ve all had the standard spa pedicure, or at least you should’ve if your sporting flip-flops this summer. Well, now the staid boring pedicure has been augmented with the use of fish. Yes, fish!
Don’t worry though. These guys are vicious flesh-eating piranha. They are tiny carp that nibble away at your dead skins cells. Gross, we know. But you’re interested aren’t you?
These toothless fish are called garra rufa but are better known as doctor fish. First used in Turkey, they have become popular in some Asia countries.
The treatment is painless and reportedly feels like your foot is asleep. It is offered at a Virginia spa run by John Ho and costs $35 for 15 minutes and $50 for 30 minutes.
We’re going to have to find a NYC spa that has this treatment FAST!!! We’re up for new things and this is a must try!
