CAROLINA HERRERA JR. SAYS STOP TRYING SO HARD

by Kid A on August 21, 2008

Carolina Herrera Jr., the daughter of that classically chic designer of the same name, is giving her take on the overt in your face fashion spawned by “Sex and the City”.  She has been quoted in the NY Post addressing women who try to hard as doing themselves no favors.

“The shoes fit badly, their bag is too big, they’re not used to having 100 necklaces on their neck,” the young fashion designer says. “There’s nothing wrong with being trendy if that’s what you’ve been doing all your life.”

What on earth possessed Carolina Herrera Jr. to put that awful gray boxy jacket over that equally awful white blouse? It’s a horrid combination.

Look, it’s easy to be chic, have gorgeous clothes, be trendy or do your own thing and live in homes and apartments that make the average person drool. Both of the Carolinas were born into privilege. And I do wonder when I read about the Herrera family if they are absolutely problem-free people. Everything about them is described in the most glowing terms.

Do they argue with each other? All those sisters! Do they ever look less than picture perfect? What about dirt? Do they create dirt in living their lives? Leave sticky dishes in the sink? Forget important things? Or are they invincible, perfect and super-human beings?

Oh, the glorification of it all.
