LAUREN CONRAD’S LINE FIND PERMANENT RESIDENCE ON STORE SHELVES

by Kid A on October 2, 2008

Lauren Conrad’s line at Bloomingdale’s is apparently not doing so well.
After launching last month, where she could barely describe the clothes, the fanfare has died.

A shopper recently browsing the racks at the 59th Street flagship told NY Post, “The racks of Lauren’s line were over stuffed with clothes.”

A fashion insider source confirmed, “Her line is not selling.”  The NY Post also reports that Kitson in LA “has 12 bins of Lauren Conrad clothing sitting in the warehouse” which the store couldn’t sell “even after a buy-one, get-one-free offer.”

The Hill’s star is up against tough competition including Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. line, which has been around five years, and Mary-Kate Olsen’s Elizabeth & James, which has four windows at Bloomingdale’s.

A rep for Conrad blamed the overstock on a complete sell-out of the line and re-ordering of merchandise.  Good one.
