One of the major causes of fights and splits in marriage is money.
And now the tough economic times are taking their toll on our beloved fashion marriages.
Designer Narciso Rodriguez and Liz Claiborne are parting ways after an unsuccessful 18 months of trying to make it work.
Claiborne saw an opportunity to move upmarket and Rodriguez saw much needed money for growth. But the two sides differed on how to achieve theirs ends. Liz Claiborne wanted Rodrguez to move some manufacturing from Italy to China. Rodrguez was not trying to hear that.
“Narciso was not shy about sharing his frustrations, and that really complicated the situation,” one source said.
“Liz said, ‘Let’s make a bag license in China, and Narciso said ‘I couldn’t conceive of making a bag in China,’” according to one source familiar with the matter.
Dissolution of the agreement seemed to be the best and only option for both sides.
