We hope you like this color that’s staring you in the face because you’re probably going to be seeing more of it in the coming new year.

That’s because colors believe it or not are regulated and there’s even a global authority on color. Their name is Pantone and they recently deemed Mimosa, PANTONE(R) 14-0848, as the color of the year for 2009.

Mimosa is a “warm and engaging” shade of yellow. Well, we certainly find it to be engaging. Bold, is another word that comes to mind also.

Mimosa is supposed to represent hope and optimism.

“The colour yellow exemplifies the warmth and nurturing quality of the sun, properties we as humans are naturally drawn to for reassurance,” Leatrice Eiseman, executive director of the Pantone Color Institute, tells MARKETWATCH.COM. “Mimosa also speaks to enlightenment, as it is a hue that sparks imagination and innovation.”
