LODEN DAGER FOR UNIQLO CAPSULE COLLECTION

Uniqlo continues their Designer Invitation Project (a.k.a.- guest designer; a.k.a.- collaboration) with hip NY brand Loden Dager. The capsule collection will include six styles each under $80 in keeping with the Japanese fast fashion retailers price point.

Barneys New York Finds a Buyer

New York department store Barneys has been sold to Dubai’s Istithmar after a bidding war.
Istithmar will acquire Barneys from Jones Apparel Group for $942.3 million. Fast Retailing, the Japanese company that owns Uniqlo, backed out of the war deciding it was too pricey.

Movers & Shakers: Gap Hires New CEO

The San Francisco-based retailer, Gap Inc., has named Glenn Murphy as the companies new CEO.
DNR reports that the former Canadian drugstore-chain executive is expected to start this week and earn a base salary of $1.5 million. Though Murphy has no fashion experience, he has a history of, “impressive results in reinvigorating retailers and brands.”

Patrick Robinson to design for Gap!!!

Designer Patrick Robinson has been hired by Gap Inc. as executive vice president of design.
Gap Inc. released an official statement on May 23, 2007.
